Affiliate Disclosure

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may be paid a commission. It costs you nothing extra.
That is the disclosure the law asks for. The rest of this page is what we do about it.
Our rules
- We only link to things we use. Not “have looked at” — use, in the work that produces this site.
- The free option is always named first. If a free tool does the job, the guide is written for the free tool, and we say when the paid one is not worth it.
- Disclosure appears above the first affiliate link on the page, every time, in the body text rather than in a footer nobody reads. This is enforced by the software, not by anyone remembering.
- A commission never changes a recommendation. Where the tool we recommend pays nothing and a worse one pays well, we recommend the one that works and say that it pays us nothing.
- Nothing on this site is a paid placement. We do not accept payment for a review, a mention, a link, or a position in a list.
What happens when you click
Affiliate links on this site pass through a redirect at /go/ so we can count clicks and change a broken destination in one place instead of editing forty articles. Every one is marked rel="sponsored", which is how we tell search engines what it is.
We record that a click happened and which programme it went to. We do not record who you are.
Where the money actually comes from
Mostly not from this. The digital kits we sell are the larger part, by design — a site that lives on commission ends up writing for the commission. Affiliate income is a supplement, and we would rather it stayed one.
